Steps to open ranks inspection

1. Flight Commander commands flight to attention

2. Flight commander commands Dress-Right-Dress to obtain alignment of Flight

3. Flight Commander commands Open-Ranks-March

a. Third Element standsfast and does an automatic Dress-Right-Dress
b. Second Element takes one step forward with left foot and does an automatic Dress-Right- Dress
c. First Element takes two steps forward starting with left foot and does an automatic Dress- Right-Dress

4. Flight Commander aligns each element

5. Flight Commander takes position three steps in front of flight and commands Ready front

6. Inspector inspects Flight Commander

7. Flight Commander commands second and third elements to Parade-Rest

8. Inspector inspects first element accompanied by Flight Commander

9. Prior to inspecting second element, element leader calls element to attention

10. Once second element has began being inspected, first element leader calls element to Parade-Rest

11. Prior to inspecting third element, element leader calls element to Attention

12. Once third element has began being inspected, second element leader calls element to Parade-Rest

13. Prior to Flight Commander assuming position in front of flight, third element leader calls element to Parade-Rest

14. Flight Commander takes position three paces in front of flight and commands Attention

15. Inspector provides observations and comments to Flight Commander

16. Flight Commander commands Close-Ranks-March

a. First element standsfast and remains at the position of attention
b. Second element takes one step forward with the left foot and remains at position of
attention.
c. Third element takes two steps forward starting with the left foot and remains at position
of attention.

17. Flight Commander commands At-Ease and discusses inspector comments with flight
